Study of the Material~
  • Historical plaster analysis including materials used and application methods.
  • Study of traditional lath materials including; wood, metal, and alternative lath.
  • Ability to identify problems and make recommendations for repair or replacement.

Flat Wall Application-
  • Application of traditional 3-coat plaster; scratch coat, brown coat, and lime putty finish.
  • Basic knowledge of techniques used to achieve an even flat surface; dots and screeds, plumbing the wall, trowel techniques, and proper mixing consistency.


Decorative Medallion Creation~
~Total creation and execution of a decorative plaster medallion.

  • Knowledge of glazing mechanics and types.
  • Total piece creation from concept to completion.
  • Restoration & replication involving the scientific process behind creating a copy of a historic tile for repair or replacement.
