Masonry & Historic Roofing

Masonry~
  • Ability to perform historic mortar analysis and identification of deterioration problems common to masonry buildings. (spalling, efflorescence, sugaring, ect)
  • Knowledge of the proper way to successfully repoint historic brick buildings and also provide recommendations for building cleaning.
  • Fundamental stone carving skills.
  • Basic setting and finishing of both masonry units and concrete.

Historic Roofing~
  • Basic installing experience with various roofing components: Slate, metal, wood shake & shingle, and architectural shingle.
  • Ability to analyze historic roofing deterioration problems and provide recommendations for repair or stabilization.
  • Ability to provide recommendations for historic roofing replacements that encourage the use of new and renewable products while maintaining a historic feel.
